Over eighty happy neighbours regularly join us for our summer Neighbourhood Fun Nights. Adults and kids alike enjoy a delicious, low-cost, home-cooked dinner served by volunteers Phyllis and Elaine, followed by entertainment, fun displays and, of course, our usual full complement of games and activities for the youngsters.
The Tora Budokan Ju Jitsu club trains Tuesday and Thursdays at Alex House. Children's class runs from 6.15 to 7pm and the adult class runs from 7 to 8.15pm. We Teach traditional Ju-Jitsu (a self defence system) which covers all basic Karate Strikes, Throws & Sweeps, Wrist Locks/Arm Locks, Pressure Points and escape moves. Cost is: Children $40 per month, Adults $80 per month.
Crescent Beach Photo Club is open to photographers at all levels. We host speakers, enter competitions, organize themes and outings, workshops, and more. There is something of interest to everyone. Death Café is an opportunity for up to a dozen participants to confidentially discuss thoughts and feelings about end-of-life and afterlife in a safe, relaxed, nonjudgmental, and non-sectarian environment.
Join local musicians the last Sunday of every month from September to the end of May, in the Dining Hall for Acoustic Jam, 6-10pm. Bring your instrument and a snack to share. $2 drop-in. Everyone is welcome and you don't have to play an instrument - you can just come and enjoy the music.
